On the next two screens are some examples of how medical/health care search tools work.
The screen below is from MEDWEB®, which is produced at the Emory University Medical Library. MEDWEB has a well organized index or subject list.
Click here if you want to open a new browser window to MEDWEB. You can also do a "Bookmark" in Netscape® or add it to your "Favorites" in Internet Explorer® if you want to go back to it later: http://www.medweb.emory.edu/Medweb/).
Notice the Subject Index option on the left-hand side of the screen below? Let's find out if "HIV/AIDS" is listed there.
When we click on the Subject Index option, we get the menu/index below. Notice that "HIV/AIDS" is listed. Let's use the Focus Further option to see what other menu options are available.
When we click on the Focus Further option, we get the menu index below. Notice that there are many categories of HIV/AIDS information including "Dentistry," "Diagnostics," "News" and many other categories. Instead of doing a search, we can find information using these index options. OR, we can always do a search at any time if we are looking for something specific.
Let's look at another medical/health care search tool on the next screen.
