Look at this example from the search engine:

Click here if you want to open a new browser window to Yahoo!®. You can also do a "Bookmark" in Netscape® or add it to your "Favorites" in Internet Explorer® if you want to go back to it later: http://dir.yahoo.com/ ).

1. Notice on the screen below that we searched only the DIRECTORY, not the entire Web. We entered "prevention and hiv" as our search concept.

The screen below shows our results:

2. Notice the "Sponsored Results" on the screen below? These Web sites have paid to be included at the top of the retrieval list.

3. Also notice that only 112 "hits" were found in the Yahoo!® Directory. That is many fewer than the 400,000+ that we found in AltaVista®.
