SECTION 2: STRATEGIES FOR LOCATING RELIABLE HIV/AIDS INFORMATION ON THE WEB

THE BODY

The Body is a comprehensive Web resource that covers many aspects of HIV and AIDS, including the medical perspective, social issues, and more. The Body also hosts more than 70 AIDS groups (bulletin boards and listservers).

Click here if you want to open a new browser window to The Body. You can also do a "Bookmark" in Netscape® or add it to your "Favorites" in Internet Explorer® if you want to go back to it later: http://www.thebody.com/.
You can open a second Web browse screen and follow along "live" or use the screen captures below).

Notice on the screen below that The Body includes a variety of useful options.

1. The "Last Update" feature lets users know when the site was updated, and whether it is current.

2. The main page or home page also provides a section for health care professionals and providers. Although The Body is primarily a consumer AIDS site, it also attracts health professionals with this feature.

3. Consumers have the option to ask the experts if they have specific questions or issues that require a health care professional's attention or advice.
