SECTION 2: STRATEGIES FOR LOCATING RELIABLE HIV/AIDS INFORMATION ON THE WEB

LOCAL OR NATIONAL ORGANIZATION AND ASSOCIATION COLLECTIONS

Professional or consumer associations and organizations also sponsor comprehensive Web sites.

Organizations such as the Gay Men's Health Crisis, American Lung Association, Latin American Health Institute, American Heart Association, or the National Association of People With AIDS produce Web sites as a way of making information available to the public and their members. The Internet is one of the most important ways that organizations and associations can distribute information to their local communities, the nation, and the world.

Most organization and association Web sites include collections of links to:

  1. information about the organization itself
  2. information that is relevent to the association's mission, goals, members, and audience
