SECTION 2: STRATEGIES FOR LOCATING RELIABLE HIV/AIDS INFORMATION ON THE WEB

MEDLINEplus

This is the MEDLINEplus Health Topics menu. Use the alphabetical index to select from a list of topics, or use the Search option to enter your search question or query.

The Master index or navigation bar at top of every screen allows users to easily move from topic to topic, or from section to section of the Web site.

Let's select "AIDS" from the Health Topics menu:

Notice on the screen above that a list of AIDS topic categories appears on the LEFT side of the screen. Corresponding links to Web resources appear on the RIGHT side of the screen.

All of the links in MEDLINEplus have been quality-filtered for content, timeliness, and other quality markers.

Like HIV InfoWeb MEDLINEplus acts as a "jumpstation" or "portal" to other useful Web sites. The difference is that MEDLINEplus covers not only HIV/AIDS, but ALL health-related topics and isssues.

Notice on the screen above that each link tells us what organization or government agency produces the Web site.
