SECTION 2: STRATEGIES FOR LOCATING RELIABLE HIV/AIDS INFORMATION ON THE WEB

THINKING IN TERMS OF CATEGORY

Instead of automatically going into a search engine, try approaching the Web another way. It may save you time, energy, and frustration!

FIRST:
Think about your information need in terms of CATEGORY.

For example:

INFORMATION NEED:
CATEGORY:
I am looking for information on rapid-testing. Think in terms of the DIAGNOSIS category.
I am looking for information on the effectiveness of the female condom. Think in terms of the PREVENTION category.
I want to know more about AIDS drugs. Think in terms of the TREATMENT category.
I am looking for caregiver support groups in my area. Think in terms of the ADVOCACY category.
I would like to find a newspaper article that I heard about. Think in terms of the NEWS category.
