AEGIS --AIDS Education Global Information System (pronounced like "E-jis") is one of the older HIV/AIDS organizations in the United States. AEGIS acts as a clearinghouse for HIV/AIDS information, working with other organizations and individuals to collect, organize, and mount on the Web large collections of information in its database. In fact, the AEGIS database currently contains more than 1 million files on all aspects of HIV/AIDS: history, prevention, treatment, and more.

1. The date when the site was last updated apppears at the top.
2. The Web site also features current news so that users can keep up with hot topics or the latest research reports.
Every AEGIS Web page includes a navigation bar that runs along the left-hand side of the screen. Use the navigation bar to move through the Web site. Click on the file folder that matches the CATEGORY of information that you need, and browse through available menu options.
3. Notice the links to the mission statement, privacy policy, and HON Code of Ethics on the navigation bar.
The HON Code of Ethics is another mark of a quality Web resource. HON -- Health on the Net imposes a strict set of quality and ethical criteria for health-related Web sites. Sites that subscribe to HON's Code of Ethics must adhere to this code, undergoing close scrutiny for quality, privacy, confidentiality, security, and other ethical markers.
