EXPLODE, FOCUS, SUBHEADINGS, AND LIMIT REVIEW

FOCUS

Focusing is another decision you will make about each subject heading (MeSH) during the search process. Remember that the FOCUS and EXPLODE commands are separate decisions.

Focusing your term will retrieve only those articles where the term is emphasized, a major point, or a main topic.

Focus your MeSH term if you expect to find a lot of literature, and want only those articles that focus/emphasize the term.

Do NOT Focus if the concept is new, rare, or if there is not a lot of literature on the topic.

Never Focus region names, geographic names, or country names.

You do not need to explode and focus every term in the tree, only the main term (heart diseases).
