EXPLODE FUNCTION

Sample retrieval with and without Explode ("exp") .

Look at the difference that exploding will make in your retrieval:

# Search History Results Display
1 heart diseases/ 6195 Display
2 exp heart diseases/ 119784 Display

Keep in mind that although many thousands of articles were retrieved in set #2, when you begin combining this result with other concepts in your search topic, the retrieval will be reduced to a reasonable number of articles.
