Self-Serve Photocopy Machines

Seven photocopy machines are available at the Alumni Medical Library for patron use during all regular library hours. Copy cards can be used in the photocopy machine -- the machines do not take change or dollar bills. The Library is unable to give change. A change machine is located in the basement of the building.

Copy Cards

A self-serve copy card dispenser/encoder is installed next to the Circulation Desk. Initially, a copy card costs $1, which includes the cost of the card plus 6 copies. Thereafter, the cards can be encoded with additional amounts, ranging from $1 to $20. The copy card machine accepts bills only, and does not give change. Receipts are not issued for copy card machine purchases. If you need a receipt, you can purchase a copy card at the Circulation Desk.

Copy cards can also be purchased at the Circulation Desk in the following amounts: $9 (100 copies), $21.50 (250 copies), $40 (500 copies), and $70 (1000 copies). Acceptable methods of payment include cash or personal checks, Boston University requisition orders, or Boston Medical Center grant or account numbers submitted with a purchase requisition.

To make photocopies with the copy card, insert your card into the copy card box on the photocopier. The machine will display the number of copies available, not a dollar amount. When copying is finished, push the button and wait for the card to eject.

Copy cards purchased and encoded in the Alumni Medical Library cannot be used in any other BU library. Copy cards purchased at other libraries cannot be used at the Alumni Medical Library.

Your copy cards are your responsibility. Identify your card by writing your name and telephone number on the card. Remember to remove your card from the photocopy machine after each use.

Refunds are not given for unused copies, or for lost or stolen copy cards.

Printing Using your ACS Print Quota

All BUMC students, faculty and staff have an allocation of $225 per semester for printing from the computers located at 111 Cummington Street on the Charles River campus. This provides an initial allotment of as many as 4500 copies each semester, with additional copies available on request. This allocation can also be used from the computers located on the 11th and 12th floor of the Alumni Medical Library or from your personal computer if you set up your personal computer to print to those printers. If printing from the Alumni Medical Library or from your personal computer, you must pick up the print job at 111 Cummington Street. Regardless of the location from which you sent the print job, your work will be held for three days. Go to http://www.bu.edu/pcsc/ftp/psprinting and select your operating system to determine how to print from your personal computer to the printers located at 111 Cummington Street. For additional information, contact the Learning Resources Center at 617-638-5433.
