Free Medical Library Print/Copy Card Distribution to BMC Residents

BMC Residents are eligible to receive a free Print/Copy card through the BMC CIR office. To request your card, contact the CIR Office at 617-414-5301.

Purchasing Print/Copy Cards

Cards are used for both printers and photocopiers and can be purchased at the self-serve Card Dispenser.

The self-serve Card Dispenser is located next to the Circulation desk. Initially, a copy card costs $1, which includes the cost of the card plus 5 pages. Thereafter, the cards can be encoded with additional amounts at $.12 per copy. The Card Dispenser accepts bills only and does not give change.

Departments may purchase Print/Copy cards using Boston University requisition orders, or Boston Medical Center grant or account numbers submitted with a purchase requisition, by contacting Ana Caballero, Administrative Secretary, L-12, by email acaballe@bu.edu or by telephone at (617) 638-4230. For help with purchase requisition orders, please email proolr@bu.edu or call (617)358-3234.

Print/Copy cards are your responsibility. Identify your card by writing your name, e-mail address or telephone number on the card. Refunds are not given for unused pages or for lost or stolen cards, and free pages not picked-up by students do not rollover from one distribution period to the next.

Photocopy Machines

Six photocopy machines are available in the BUMC Library (two each on the 11th, 12th and 13th floors) for patron use during all regular library hours. Print/Copy cards can be used in the photocopy machines.

Scanners

Scanners located next to the photocopiers on the 11th, 12th, and 13th floors of the library enable you to scan and send documents to library printers, an email address, or save to a USB drive.
No charge is involved except for the print option (the charge is the standard $.12/page charge for printing, paid via copy card by the printers on the 12th floor or in 1109).
The Computer Lab also contains 2 IBM scanners.

Additional Print Services

BUMC students, faculty and staff may send and print documents to the Medical Campus FedEx Office at the BUMC contracted pricing rate of $.03 cents per image ($.06 per double-sided printed page) via https://docstore.fedex.com/bu, available as a desktop link from BUMC Library computers. You can then pick-up your documents at the FedEx Office Center location in the Talbot Building near Albany St. and adjacent to the Bank of America ATM. If you print at the FedEx Kinko's Copy Center, you cannot use your BU Print/Copy Card for payment.

Additional information about FedEx Kinko's on the Medical Campus is available at http://www.bumc.bu.edu/bumc-emc/fedex-kinkos/.

Additional Photocopy Services

A photocopy service is also available at the BUMC Library. Library staff will photocopy journal articles located in the library's collection for BUMC students, faculty and staff, at $6 per article. Copies are usually ready within 2 - 5 days. Payment options include personal checks or value deducted from Print/Copy card at the Circulation Desk. No credit cards are accepted. Boston University students, faculty and staff who wish to bill photocopies to their departments must present a departmental requisition order. Boston Medical Center students, faculty and staff who wish to bill photocopies to their departments must provide a purchase order and departmental billing number.

Rush requests for in-house journal articles and book chapters cost an additional $10.00 per item and take 24 - 48 hours to fill.

Photocopy request forms are available at the Circulation Desk or on the Web at http://medlib.bu.edu/forms/illrequest.cfm. One photocopy request form must be submitted with each item requested.

All photocopy requests must conform to the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, US Code.)
